I was hot, dirty, and tired; but I was happy. Ghana is poor but the conditions I saw today were worse than I imagined. Brenda, one of the volunteers, donated a towel, toothpaste, and a bar of soap to each of the orphans. These essentials will make all of the difference! Today will forever make an impact on my life.
Awwww Justine!!! You're going to make such an impact on these kids!! Enjoy every minute and remember - "take it allll in!!" :) love the pictures, they're sooo cute!! How is the food? Dying to know! Haha

ReplyDeleteMag: The food is amazing! They cook breakfast and dinner for us each day. Each morning we eat fresh local fruit and I don't ask much about the dinners..but I finish every bite. Tomorrow I will be trying "fufu", I am very excited about it!

1. I have no idea, it looked like dough. You eat it with your hands. I have pictures, I will try to post about it tomorrow!
ReplyDelete2. They don't have the big bellies. Thankfully they get meals every day at the orphanage. But they have wounds and scars all over their bodies.
3. Roomies are amazing people. We have a great time even when we are relaxing at the house. I am learning to balance baskets on my head!

Justine I think this is so amazing what you're experiencing! While you're there can you look into how we can help over here? I always want to donate food/clothes/money/medicines/etc,but I never trust the big organizations because who knows where that money goes! If you have any insider info. on this please pass it along :) Keep the pics and descriptions coming, I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brooke! I am getting together information for anyone that wants to help. The best way to donate would be to pass along money to my volunteer coordinators. I can trust them; the orphans would get every cent! Give me a few more days to figure it out!
